We are happy to announce that the Media Cognition and Learning Research Group will be presenting five papers at the International Society of the Learning Sciences Conference (ISLS 2024), which will take place 10-14 June 2024, Buffalo, New York. The theme of the conference is Learning as a cornerstone of healing, resilience, and community.

Christiana Varda and Dr Eleni A. Kyza will be participating in a symposium presentation. Their contribution is titled “Reflective considerations: The theoretical and practical issues of applying the AIR framework on social media” and it will be part of the symposium “Understanding and Promoting Epistemic Growth: Applying the AIR and Apt-AIR Frameworks”. The symposium was submitted to the International Conference of the Learning Sciences segment of the ISLS 2024.

Dr. Andria Agesilaou and Dr Eleni A. Kyza’s paper “A pedagogical framework for supporting the development of students’ personal data competencies” has been accepted to be presented for the International Conference of the Learning Sciences segment of the ISLS 2024 as a Short Paper Presentation.

Dr. Markos Souropetsis, Dr Eleni A. Kyza, Dr. Yiannis Georgiou Dr. Louis Nisiotis’ paper “Investigating students’ immersion, motivation and cultural heritage learning in gamified and non-gamified virtual reality environments” has been accepted to be presented for the International Conference of the Learning Sciences segment of the ISLS 2024 as a Short Paper Presentation.

Christiana Varda, Dr. Elena A. Kyza and Clark Chinn’s paper “Capturing epistemic engagement on social media” has been accepted to be presented for the International Conference of the Learning Sciences segment of the ISLS 2024 as a Poster Presentation.

Finally, Anastasia Economou, Georgios Kapsalis, Eleni Kyza, Yiannis Georgiou, Sean Gallagher, Conor Galvin, Eleftheria Gonida, Davinia Hernandez-Leo, Liisa Ilomäki, Minna Lakkala, Dimitris Moustakas, Pantelis M. Papadopoulos, Aurelio Ruiz Garcia’s paper “Building Digital Competence: Personal and Contextual Factors in Teachers’ Professional Learning” has been accepted to be presented for the International Conference of the Learning Sciences segment of the ISLS 2024 as a Long Paper Presentation.
